The Italian contingent in Kosovo, employed in the NATO “Joint Enterprise” mission, in the first decade of December carried out two important Civil - Military cooperation projects in the medical, government and school sectors for the benefit of the Kosovo population.

The projects were conducted by the CIMIC (Civil Military Co-opertion) cell of the KFOR Regional Command West (RC-W) which saw the Yellow Devils of the 185th Paratrooper Artillery Regiment, effective at the brigade thunderbolt of the Italian Army, make donations in the municipalities of Pec / Peje and Elez Han / Han I Elezit.

The first project provided medical PPE (personal protective equipment) and sanitizing gel for the Family Medicine Center of the Municipality of Pec / Peje. The purpose of the donation was to increase the individual protection of medical personnel involved in combating the transmission of the COVID-19 virus. The ceremony was attended by Mr. Petrit Loci, councilor for health of the Municipality of Pec / Peje, the director of the Family Medicine Center of the Municipality, Safet Zabeli, and the commander of the Regional Command West (RC-W) of KFOR, Colonel Andrea Bertazzo . During the ceremony, the commissioner expressed words of gratitude towards the Italian contingent of KFOR, declaring that the PFP2 masks, visors, medical suits and sanitizing gel are precious materials for the medical staff who must operate daily in contact with the sick affected by Covid-19.

The second civil-military cooperation activity took place in the Municipality of Elez Han / Han I Elezit and saw the delivery of the solar panel system for the supply of electricity to the town hall and the donation of outdoor games and didactic aids to the municipal kindergarten. These donations are aimed at making the environment healthier by improving air quality and, on the other hand, at guaranteeing better integration teaching among the little children who attend kindergarten. On that occasion, the mayor of the municipality, Mehmet Ballazhi, thanked Colonel Bertazzo for the important collaboration with the Italian contingent.

The Italian contingent of the KFOR mission, with the completion of its civil-military cooperation projects, will continue to ensure the fulfillment of the mission's task according to the dictates of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244 of 1999, in order to guarantee a safe and secure environment for all communities living in Kosovo.
