CIMIC activities in favor of Kosovars

29/07/14

In the past week, the Italian soldiers stationed in Kosovo, framed in the Multinational Battle Group West led by "Lancieri di Montebello", carried out various civil-military cooperation activities (CIMIC) in favor of the local population.

Through the realization of projects and donations of basic necessities in favor of the populations, the CIMIC stands as an interlocutor among the ethnic groups present in the Kosovar region to foster collaboration and create the best conditions for their autonomous growth.

The Italians donated educational material, toys, clothing and basic necessities to a religious center for children located in Bec (Djakova), which also includes a reception center and where the numerous needy children are followed and educated according to principles of integration and solidarity.

The CIMIC activities continued with donations to the inhabitants of the villages included in the enclave of Gorazdevac: a Serbian community that is still suffering from the heightened isolation, since it is located in the center of an area with an Albanian majority.

Finally, the Italian contingent (led by "Lancieri di Montebello") provided its solidarity contribution to the "Caritas Umbra" of Klina, a non-governmental organization (NGO) all Italian active in Kosovo from 15 years, which deals with giving home and education to needy minors.

As a token of thanks, the little ones have in turn organized an evening with shows and ballets dedicated to Italians.

All donations were made in respect of the impartiality towards the ethnic groups and religions present in the area.
