Alpine and Carabinieri donate school supplies to Lebanese children

The UNIFIL Italian blue helmets have distributed in recent days at some schools in the province of Tiro, an area in southern Lebanon where the contingent composed mainly of staff from the Ariete brigade operates, the school material collected by the Alpini Group of Giussano, in collaboration with the local section of the National Carabinieri Association, and destined to solidarity initiatives in favor of the local population.

These are 12.000 notebooks, 5.000 ballpoint pens, 2160 pencils and 1728 sharpeners that the two associations had sent in recent weeks, at the headquarters of the Joint Task Force Lebanon, for Lebanese children in anticipation of the start of the new school year.

The CIMIC cell of the Italian contingent, commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Venanzio Abbatinali, in agreement with the heads of the schools of the area, coordinated the delivery of teaching materials, which took place thanks to the support of Italbatt's blue helmets, a unit for maneuvering the contingent Italian on the "Lancieri di Novara" regiment base.

Assistance to the local population is one of the most important tasks carried out by the Italian soldiers of UNIFIL, which many associations refer to for the realization of solidarity projects or, as in this case, for the distribution of material collected in Italy and destined for charitable initiatives. .
