The operation, in addition to neutralizing the insurgents, also led to the destruction of a large amount of weapons and ammunition, including 14 improvised devices, 13 rocket launchers, and two explosive vests.
The group of insurgents, identified by national intelligence agencies, and the Italian contingent, moved on board a convoy of vehicles and was ready to hit sensitive targets in the western area of the country in order to boycott the proper conduct of the 5 April electoral process next one.
