Afghanistan: meeting with the new governor of Herat province

The commander of the Train Advise Assist Command West (TAAC-W), Brigadier General Enrico Barduani, met the new governor of the Herat province, Sayed Abdul Wahid Qattali, a few days after taking office.

The meeting, organized for security reasons in a reserved area of ​​Herat airport, in addition to allowing a first direct contact between the two authorities, aimed to deepen the knowledge on the main activities conducted by the respective institutions in the area western part of the country and evaluate any areas of further collaboration.

During the interview, which took place in an atmosphere of cordiality, the commander of the TAAC-W and the governor extensively discussed the security situation in the Herat area and, more specifically, the consequences related to the covid-19 emergency that is heavily impacting on the social and economic fabric of the city.

Qattali also expressed the hope that, at a particular moment such as the current one, coalition forces can increase support for the local population, cooperating with international organizations present in the area, such as UNAMA, in the development of humanitarian assistance projects. .
