Afghanistan: donation to the women's affairs department

During a shura organized on the occasion of International Women's Day, it was carried out in Herat, at the command of the Train Advise Assist Command West (TAAC-W), the donation of furniture and electronic material to the Herat women's affairs department.

The donation, which is part of the CIMIC projects of the IOC carried out by the staff of the Italian contingent, also guaranteed the setting up of premises used as a kindergarten, important structures also to facilitate female work.

The event, held in compliance with anti-Covid measures, was attended by the deputy governor of Herat Dr. Monesa Hasanzadeh, Dr. Anisa Sarwari, head of the department of women's affairs in Herat and various representatives of the institutions and women's organizations of the city.

During his greeting, Brigadier General Beniamino Vergori, commander of the national contingent (National Contingent Commander-NCC) and commander of the TAAC-W HQ, highlighted how women have always fought with tenacity and courage, managing to earn with ability and value the right role in many areas of society sometimes, unfortunately, even paying a very high price.

General Vergori also underlined the fact that every modern, dynamic and successful society cannot ignore having an adequate female presence in every sector; presence that must tend to become a constant of normality.

The Italian area of ​​responsibility in which TAAC-W operates is a large region of western Afghanistan (as large as Northern Italy) which includes the four provinces of Herat, Badghis, Ghor and Farah.

The main component of the national forces is currently made up of personnel of the Italian Army from the "Folgore" paratroopers brigade, with a contribution of personnel and means of the Navy Air Force and Arma dei Carabinieri.
