Afghanistan: firearms against Italian helicopter

Yesterday morning at the local 10,30 (the Italian 7), a CH47 “Chinook” helicopter from the Italian “Fenice” Task Force was subjected to gunshots, in the landing phase at 30 kilometers south of Shindand, in an operation in support of the Afghan security forces.

After returning fire, the CH47 moved away from the area and was able to reach the nearby Shindand Air Base.

The Italian helicopter, which was carrying Afghan soldiers to reach an inaccessible location, suffered minor damage and no Italian soldiers were injured.
