Afghanistan: change in command of the "Fenice" Task Group

On August 26, the changeover ceremony of the Task Group "FENICE" took place during which the men of the Task Group on the 5th AVES regiment base "RIGEL" took over from those of the Task Group on the 7th AVES regiment base "VEGA".

From 11 August the command of the TAAC-W (Train Advise and Assist - West) was taken over by the Multinational Land Force on an Alpine Brigade base Julia under the orders of Brigadier General Alberto Vezzoli.

The NATO "Resolute Support" mission is made up of military personnel from 39 nations, with the aim of contributing to the training, assistance and advice in favor of Afghan institutions and security forces, in order to make them self-sufficient and capable to independently provide for the protection of the country and its citizens.

The Italian contribution, expressed with personnel and means of the Army, Air Force, Navy and Carabinieri, has so far allowed the western region of Afghanistan to reach among the highest safety and development standards in the country.
