Afghanistan: training for the Afghan Security Forces

The commitment of the Italian contingent in the training of the Afghan security forces as part of the mission in Afghanistan continues Resolute Support, currently leading the 132nd Armored Brigade Ram. On Thursday at Camp Arena, home of the Train Advise Assist Command West (TAAC-W) in Herat, the "Mortar Course" ended, which was attended by fourteen soldiers from the Afghan National Civil Order Forces (ANCOF), Afghan Border Police (ABP ) and Regional Military Training Center (RMTC).

The course, organized and conducted by the instructors of the Military Advisory Team (MAT) and of the Security Force Assistance Battalion (SFAB), allowed the participants to deepen and refine their theoretical and practical knowledge on methods and procedures for using mortars . In particular, the frequenters have become familiar with reading and identifying points on topographic maps, learned the techniques for making and adjusting the shot and learned the rules for maintaining the efficiency of the pieces.

Developed over ten days, the Mortar Course it is part of the basic specialist training offered to the staff of the Afghanistan National Army (ANA).

The commander of the TAAC-W, Brigadier General Enrico Barduani, in commenting on the goal achieved, wanted to underline the commitment and professionalism shown by the Afghan personnel during the training, highlighting the excellent level of preparation achieved. The training manager of the 207th Afghan Army Corps, Lieutenant Colonel Assadullah, who thanked the TAAC-W contingent for the training support and assistance provided in recent years to the Afghan institutions was present at the ceremony of delivery of the certificates.
