Tuesday 7 and Wednesday 8 February 2023 a representation of United States Marine Corps Forces Europe/Africa (MARFOREUR) visited the Marine Brigade Saint Mark.
The US officers were welcomed at the Castello Svevo in Brindisi, headquarters of the command of the marine brigade Saint Mark, by Rear Admiral Massimiliano Giuseppe Grazioso, commander of the brigade and amphibious force of the Italian Navy.
After the welcome greeting at the Frederick II Room, the delegation participated in a series of meetings aimed at illustrating the capabilities of the Italian amphibious component.
At the center of the interventions the importance of collaboration within NATO, the opportunities for joint bilateral training and future prospects.
The barracks "E. Carlotto" was the site of a demonstration activity curated by the 1st "San Marco" regiment and the "Caorle" Schools battalion who were able to best express their potential through static activities, such as the exhibition of equipment supplied to the Fusiliers of the Navy and dynamics ranging from the descent in beard (Fast Rope) and abseiling, at military hand-to-hand combat (CMCC) demonstrations, at ammunition activities “Simunition” using the structures “Twall” supplied to the brigade.
Also, the visit involved the group Landing Craft, where the delegation was able to view and test the technical characteristics of the high-speed surface vehicles.
The visit of the MARFOREUR representatives highlighted the depth of the existing relationship with the marine brigade Saint Mark, a specialized department of the naval team that has always directed its activities through constructive and paying comparisons with the amphibious and landing forces of foreign countries.
The value of these occasions underlines and highlights the interest inherent in the amphibious component in improving its specific component capabilities, which only with the comparison with the other landing forces and with the experience gained in the various operational theaters and in international training activities it is possible to reach.
