From July 28th to August 1st, the ancient Arsenal of Venice, home of theInstitute of Maritime Military Studies of the Navy, hosted five evenings dedicated to cinema and culture.

The review, called "Cinema Barch-in", first drive-in Italian in boat, saw the participation of about 1500 spectators who, on board their respective boats, in compliance with the interpersonal distancing measures, were able to attend free of charge some film screenings that retraced the theme of the relationship between man, the water and seafaring art.

The event, included in the "Città in festa 2020" schedule (initiative of the Municipality of Venice aimed at enhancing and promoting the excellence of the territory), took place in the evocative context of the Novissima dock, a water mirror of unparalleled beauty that the Navy has open to the public of the event.

The active collaboration of the Navy with the Civic Administration and with the various realities of the Venetian city community is further consolidated, in an area in which the Armed Force continues to be actively engaged in the enhancement of the arsenal, a symbolic place of the great maritime tradition of Venice , from which the city - through initiatives such as "Cinema Barch-in" and the "Vogada della Rinascita" of last June 21 - symbolically intends to "restart" after the difficult period of lock down.
