January 24, 2020, in the base of Diving and Inshore Pools "Teseo Tesei" the traditional ceremony to obtain the Incursori patent took place.
In the presence of the Chief of Staff of the Navy, team admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, and the civil and military authorities of La Spezia, eleven young people (an officer, a volunteer in fixed four-year firm and nine municipalities) received the green beret from Incursore, thus becoming part of the Special Forces of the Navy. In particular, the newly patented municipalities come from the enrollment for Volunteers in Fixed Station of one year (VFP1) which allows access to the preparatory course as an Incursor just two months after joining the Armed Force.
The result of the selection made by the Comsubin School Group in eleven months of an intense training activity that began with 40 students, these young Incursors have been trained to operate in all operational scenarios in which a Special Forces soldier may be called upon to intervene (water , earth, rock).
But having obtained the Basque is only the beginning, in fact from the day following the entry of the newly patented to the Incursori Operational Group (GOI), they will continue their training through the Integrative course, lasting about one year, which will complete their preparation. professional through knowledge of the operating procedures, techniques and hyperspecialist equipment supplied to the department. They will also be sent to the Paratrooper Training Center where they will obtain the patent for military parachuting both with the restraint rope and with the technique of free fall, in order to complete their intervention skills.
Only at the end of this further training period, these eleven men will fully become part of the Incursori family by participating, now no longer controlled by the School's instructors, in the operational missions that involve Navy Raiders all over the world.
GOI operators injured in Iraq on 10 November also attended the ceremony. Present with family members for their attachment to the department, they were embraced by the warmth of the staff of the Grouping for that feeling of brotherhood and solidarity, based on the ethical and historical traditions of the body, which unites all the members of Comsubin.
This particular condition was described by the chief of staff who, in his speech, wanted to underline how the sense of belonging to Comsubin enters overwhelmingly in the hearts of those who are destined there. A unique sentiment within the Armed Force, which allowed these men to face the great difficulties imposed by the moment with grit and determination.
The traditional ceremony of granting the green beret, which represents one of the culminating moments in the life of the Incursori, was preceded by the laying of a crown in honor of all the fallen of Comsubin that the newly patented and their godfathers, the raiders of the 20th during 1969, they placed in the Varignano Chapel dedicated to Christ the King.
