01/04/14

The "Solaria" tanker entered Mar Piccolo in Taranto to be put to dry in the large GO-52 floating dock at the Maritime Military Arsenal of Taranto.

The tank, owned by the Società Morfini Spa of Bari, has a displacement of 2345 tons, is 74 meters long and has a transport capacity of 2528 cubic meters.

It will be stationed at the arsenal plant for the carrying out of careening, carpentry, engineering and engine works, which will last about two weeks and will be carried out by the local workers and by the arsenal staff.

In exchange, the plant will receive counter-benefits in favor of the new multifunctional workshops, which are undergoing modernization, with a view to optimizing internal resources, in line with the spending review policy.

Nave Solaria is the first stage of a fundamental program that the Navy wants to carry on, in order to give new life to the historic and important Tarantino plant.
