New life for the submarine component! After having passed 16 intense weeks of specialized training and tested their aptitude aboard submarines, 36 young soldiers were able to wear the "dolphin", a symbol of belonging to an elite group.

The ceremony for the delivery of badges, presided over by the commander of the submarines, Rear Admiral Vito Lacerenza, took place in Taranto on 18 March, at the submersible flotilla command and in the course of the same, Admiral Filippo Casamassima, vice president of the national submariners component of ANMI (National Association of Italian Sailors), rewarded the student who at the end of the course distinguished himself for profit and performance.

Today the Navy's underwater fleet is made up of 8 submarines, four of which are U212A type, with independent air propulsion based on the use of fuel cell, the result of a collaboration between Italy and Germany. In January of this year, the construction of the first submarine of the new generation U212NFS (Near Future Submarine) series was started at the Muggiano di Fincantieri plants, which will be characterized by the use of innovative national technologies. From this point of view, the ceremony for the delivery of the badges of belonging to the new generation becomes even more important and significant.

Being a submariner means living a unique and compelling experience in the underwater world, aboard high-tech vehicles and becoming the protagonists of a path of continuous professional growth, in which individual skills and abilities are essential for the success of the activities and for the team success.
