The sailing boats have left La Spezia Great Bear, Capricia, Corsaro II e North Star of the Navy, for the traditional summer education campaign of 2020. On board the aspiring ensigns who have just finished attending the 3rd year of the Naval Academy.
The Navy has a natural and indissoluble link with sailing, even decades after the sunset of the sailing ship era. The experience on a sailing ship is central in the training of every sailor who, on board, assimilates the most important values on which his life in the Navy will be centered.
Sailing on sailing boats will allow young officers to learn to work together, be part of a team and develop an attitude of leadership, of driving men and vehicles. Like all sailors on board, they will learn to experience the sea and sharing with other colleagues. Together they will become a crew, creating unbreakable bonds for life.
Living on a sailing boat also means knowing the elements, but above all learning to love and respect the sea. This is the distinctive feature that will always characterize every man or woman in the Navy, even when on board the latest generation of ships, as well as on land, they will be assigned to positions of ever greater responsibility.
The 2020 education campaign will end on September 10th.
