10/02/14

On the occasion of the aid to the nine migrant boats of last February 5, four scafisti were identified and subsequently detained, responsible for the crime of aiding and abetting illegal immigration, for having led from Libya to Italy aboard crumbling boats the 1123 people saved by the Navy ships.

Thus the number of smugglers secured to justice since the start of Operation Mare Nostrum rises to 41.

Each detention was made possible thanks to the activity of Judicial Police and the collection of information on board the Navy ships and further investigations carried out by the Public Prosecutors involved in the events.
