Ship Chioggia is engaged in operation Safe backdrops where it carries out monitoring activities on gas pipelines and cable ducts of national interest in the central Mediterranean to ensure the protection of our critical underwater infrastructures.
The unit is carrying out surface and seabed surveillance through the use of organic sonar and the suite of autonomous vehicles currently embarked.
The operation, carried out under the tactical command of the commander of the operation device Safe Mediterranean, has allowed us to monitor the three main gas pipelines that represent an important source of energy supply for our country: the Greenstream and Transmed in the Sicilian Channel and the TAP (Trans-Adriatic Pipeline) in the Adriatic Sea.
