In the last hours rescued over 2600 migrants from MM ships

More than 2600 are the migrants rescued by the joint forces used in the "Mare Nostrum" device during this weekend in the waters of the Strait of Sicily.

Below are the summary data of the interventions / landings:

Saturday 5 July: The helicopter of the Grecale frigate of the navy spotted a boat in distress and during the night 261 migrants were recovered, of which 226 men, 23 women (4 pregnant) and 12 minors subsequently transshipped on the Chimera corvette that landed them in Catania last night. The recovered migrants come mainly from Eritrea, Zaire, Sudan and Algeria.

Sunday 6 July: The corvette Fenice has recovered about 447 migrants including a woman, in labor, in the 9th month of pregnancy. It was necessary to transport her by helicopter, together with her family, on the Etna refueling station of the military navy;

the Etna refueler carried out the recovery of about 880 migrants identified on 4 boats;
the Vega corvette recovered 230 migrants (141 men, 44 women and 45 minors) subsequently transhipped onto the M / V Cindia (flying the Antigua and Barbuda flag) which will disembark them today in the port of Pozzallo;

Monday 7 July: the Fenice corvette with about 447 migrants on board, has recovered another 161 migrants (6 of which are minors) and heads for the port of Trapani;

 the M / V CP 906 has recovered 122 migrants and heads for the port of Trapani;
 the Etna refueler with around 880 migrants already on board is recovering other 200 migrants;
 the M / V CP 319 intercepted a boat, at the entrance to the port of Lampedusa, with about 354 migrants. Start the rescue operations.
