Ship Mimbelli in Doha for the maritime defense exhibition

The fourth edition of the international defense exhibition in the maritime sector, called DIMDEX (Doha International Maritime Defense Exibition & Conference), took place in Doha (Qatar) from 25 to 27 March.

The biennial exhibition organized in Qatar is now an indispensable defense appointment, interested in the strategic sector of the Persian Gulf and the Indian Ocean.

DIMDEX 2104 was attended by companies, consortia and exhibitors, sector specialists from 28 countries and countless qualified experts, including political and military representatives and envoys. In an international context, which saw the participation of 21 military naval units moored in the commercial port of Doha, the ship was represented by Francesco Mimbelli, currently engaged in the NATO mission to combat piracy in the Indian Ocean "OCEAN SHIELD" , sent to the Persian Gulf for the occasion.

Nave Mimbelli, under the command of vessel captain Davide Berna, had the honor of receiving on board the visits of the main diplomatic and military authorities of the region and the delegations of the other Marines attending the event, including the Chief of Staff of the defense of the Qatar major general Ghanem Bin Shaheen Al-Ghanem and the Italian ambassador in Qatar Dr. Guido De Sanctis.

The national delegation from Italy, led by the deputy national director for armaments, team admiral Valter Girardelli, accompanied by rear-admiral Antonio Natale, head of the 7 ° ship department of the General Staff, during his relationship activities with the heads of the local armed forces and representatives of various Marines present, spent a few moments on board, discussing maritime cooperation activities and the prospects for collaboration within the programs of modernization of the naval aircraft to support the National Industry with benefits of relapse for the "Country system".

In conjunction with the DIMDEX 2014, at the Qatar National Conference Center (QNCC), the Middle-East Naval Commander Conference (MENC) was held, focusing on aspects relating to the stability and maritime safety of the sector. During the conference, Admiral Antonio Natale provided an intervention focused on the innovative approach of the Italian Navy in facing the new challenges in the maritime sector for the twenty-first century and on the need for a modernization and transformation of the increasingly balanced and multi-role fleet.

Once again the presence of a unit of the Italian Navy has given importance to the role played by Italy for the stability and security of a highly strategic area for the country and has supported the national industry in a highly competitive context .
