On 26 September, in the waters south of the Ivory Coast, Nave Martinengo, the USS Hershel "Woody" Williams, and two patrol boats of the Ivorian navy Sekongo andEmergence, have undergone joint training at sea.

With the aim of increasing interoperability between the units of different countries, practicing the training and preparation of forces to combat phenomena such as piracy, still widespread in some areas such as the Gulf of Guinea, the Strait of Malacca and the Horn of Africa , the four ships simulated two different scenarios in which the Sekongo played the role of a pirated freighter first, and then a unit responsible for an illicit oil spill. In the exercise the role of Ship Martinengo and the USS Hershel "Woody" Williams was to acquire the information needed by the patrol boat Emergence to allow him to intervene safely and effectively.

The four ships then carried out close kinematic maneuvers with the aim of strengthening the integration between the participating units, which is a prerequisite when ships from different parts of the world operate at sea a few hundred meters from each other.

In fact, during the activity there was a great harmony among the crews and, despite the multinationality of the training event, the synergy between the assets was extremely fluid and positive.
