Last November 28th the frigate Virginio Fasan, first unit of the class in configuration Anti Submarine (AS), has joined the carrier strike groups (CSG) French aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle, engaged in the CLEMENCEAU 25 mission.
The CSG, in addition to the aforementioned aircraft carrier, includes three frigates, a supply ship and a nuclear-powered attack submarine and will integrate, during the mission, several ships from the allied navies, including frigates from Italy, the United States, Morocco and Greece. In this scenario Ship Fasan will escort the CSG bound for the Indo-Pacific during the transit in the Mediterranean Sea, ensuring the safety of navigation and in particular the control of the underwater dimension.
The interaction with the Marine Nationale began days earlier in the military port of Toulon (France), where the command staff of the Fasan participated in the "Pre-Sail Conference" and a series of bilateral meetings, aimed at the complete integration of the Italian vessel and its crew into the French system.
Participation in CLEMENCEAU 25, in addition to increasing cooperation with NATO partners and Allied Countries, will contribute to strengthening interoperability capabilities with the respective navies, through an intense joint training program, aimed at strengthening and improving intervention capabilities in the Mediterranean and around the world, to safeguard national interests and freedom of navigation.
This activity represents a continuum in the solid and stable Italian-French interaction, so much so that the same ship Fasan It has already participated in the same mission in 2022, reaching an excellent level of integration in the French naval group, which has now served as a solid basis for further improving their respective military capabilities.
An important growth opportunity for the Nave crew Fasan committed to continuously improving their skills, a characteristic of the professionalism of Italian sailors.
