Ship Euro, Aviere and Driade have completed the operational service

The frigate Euro, the team patrol Aviere and the corvette Driade of the Navy, the 16 last July returned to their respective bases at the end of their last naval campaign, thus concluding their operational employment after about 30 years serving the country.

The three naval units, in view of the imminent radiation from the navy, after having participated at the International Arsenal of La Spezia at the international showcase of the blue-economy "Sea Future 2018", had departed from La Spezia last 24 June for navigate along two different itineraries and "greet" so Italy and Italians: theEuro andAviere (photo opening) have stopped in the recent period in the ports of Salerno, Reggio Calabria and Crotone before returning to Taranto, while the Driade he visited the cities of Gaeta and Piombino, before returning to Augusta.

It was the last chance to visit these glorious representatives of a part of the history of the Navy and the response of the citizenship proved to be a real success, given the thousands of visitors registered on board the three ships.

During their last navigation, the frigate Euro (photo on the right) and the squad patrol Aviere, boarded the students of the 2 ° course of the Naval Military School "Francesco Morosini" also fulfilling an important training and training role in the maritime sector, safety and navigation behavior.

With the divestment of Euro, Aviere e Driade  (photo below) continues the process of adjustment of the fleet of the Navy in progress for some years that has already seen the withdrawal from service, for wear and age, of many naval units in the recent past: the frigates Mistral ed Aliseo; the corvettes Minerva, Sibilla, Danaide, Urania, Sphinx e Fenice; the team patrols Bersagliere, Grenadier e Gunner and hunters Lerici e Sapri.

The new units under construction with the "Naval Program for the Protection of the Maritime Capabilities of the Defense" will allow replacing some of the naval units that have been in service for longer, already abandoned, or of imminent exit from active service.

This program represents a first concrete step towards the indispensable path aimed at preserving - through technological adaptation and rationalization of the instrument - the intervention capacities supporting the country that characterize the Navy with the aim of contributing to the definition of an operative instrument balanced and functional within the more general inter-force instrument.
