Nave Borsini returns to the Cape Verde archipelago during its engagement in operation Gabinia. After almost two years, the Italian offshore patrol vessel lands again in the port of Praia, capital of the island republic of Cape Verde, thus touching the first African port of this kind. deployment in the Gulf of Guinea.
The Navy continues to weave its web of international relations and on the occasion of this stopover, thanks to the commitment and partnership between the Italian Embassy in Dakar and the University of Cape Verde “UNICV”, an interesting workshop entitled “Partnership between Cape Verde and Italy: study and research opportunities” was organized on board the ship, attended by local and Italian scholars and scientists.
At the center of the debate between the various speakers, both on site and in videoconference connected directly from Italy, was the important topic of climate change and its impact on marine biodiversity, as well as the importance of developing new technologies for monitoring and quantifying the changes brought about by virtue of the problem of the great water drought that is increasingly affecting our territory, especially Sicily and that unites us with the Cape Verde territory.
Before leaving the port of Praia to resume its commitment to combating piracy in the Gulf of Guinea, in the presence of Dr. Alessia Quartetti (First Secretary-Deputy Head of Mission and Head of the Consular Chancellery of the Italian Embassy in Dakar), Nave Borsini finally, he wanted to "gift" the local authorities and those of various states present in the territory, the ritual of the solemn lowering of the flag, making the guests an integral part of the scenario of one of the most important moments in the tradition of our Navy.
