Ministry of Health starts collaboration with MM

19/06/14

Yesterday an agreement was signed between the Ministry of Health and the General Staff of the Navy in which it is expected that from the next 21 June Ministry health staff, with specific training for the management of forty year problems, which compete directly with the state, will be stable on board the naval units participating in the Mare Nostrum operation.

The agreement was reached in order to carry out health control operations even before the migrants arrive in Italian ports, using the time lapse between recovery and arrival in port.

The Ministry of Health continues to strengthen the health surveillance device against potential infectious risks related to migratory flows and has launched this initiative aimed at effectively responding to the increase in numbers of people to be monitored.

Thus, for the first time, a sea projection will be carried out at the health, maritime, air and border health offices of the health ministry. Doctors, and other navy health personnel on board the same units, will continue to carry out the necessary health care interventions.

The operation will contribute to further raising the level of protection of citizens residing in our country and that of migrants themselves.
