The health component of Nave Federico Martinengo, flagship of the EUNAVFOR ASPIDES operation, together with the personnel of the CIMIC cell operating at the Italian Military Support Base (BMIS) in Djibouti, in synergy with the Italian Caritas present in the Horn of Africa, participated in the activity of Medical Care in favor of the local population.

The health care, supported by the director of Caritas, Sara Ben Rached, and intended for street children and the inhabitants of the capital city of the Djiboutian state, found immediate and enthusiastic support from the medical personnel on board, who carried out medical visits at a suitable outpatient facility, made available specifically by the pastoral organization.

During the morning, the specialist staff performed medical visits on pediatric patients, the elderly and pregnant women; the most common pathologies are dermatological infections, abrasion wounds, scabies, mycosis, traumatic lesions and broncho-respiratory conditions. At the end of this appointment, the second since Nave Martinengo participate in the operation Aspides as flagship, the director of Caritas Italy, expressed words of deep gratitude for the praiseworthy initiative of the health component on board every time the unit is stopped in Djibouti, hoping for the continuation of these important interventions in support of the less fortunate people of the territory. The fundamental and precious contribution also takes shape in the provision of primary care, in the work of diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases and physical injuries.
