A WWII bomb was found on May 15 by Nave Alghero during the exercise Open Sea 2022. The identification took place in the waters facing the coast of Cagliari at a depth of about 19 meters.
All the authorities concerned were immediately informed and the area was banned by order of the Port Authority of Cagliari. The subsequent determinations are the responsibility of the Prefecture.
The Navy operates continuously to safeguard the safety of navigation on all occasions, including exercises carried out in national waters.
The activities of the minesweeper group will continue in the southern area of Sardinia until next 27 May.
