The position of "chief engineer" passes to the non-commissioned officer

04/07/14

The 1 July 2014 came into force the new equipment tables for Corvettes of the Minerva class (Urania, Sphinx, Danaide, Chimera, Driade) and for the Constellation class patrol boats (Cassiopea, Spica, Vega, Libra).

Among the most significant variants, one of the most important tasks, that of the ship system service manager - more traditionally known as the chief engineer - will be assigned to a non-commissioned officer of the marshals' role: the car driver.

The equipment tables are a fundamental document that defines the structure of the crew of each ship.

The passage of the witness, similar to what already happens on many other minor ships of the naval team, will assign greater responsibilities to marshals of technical services who, after a long and demanding training and training course, will cover one of the most important on-board roles , responsible to the commander of the safety, the floating and the mobility of the ship.

The handover between the transferor officers, destined to cover other important tasks and the accepting marshals, has already started a few weeks ago and was formally concluded at the 08.00 on July 1st 2014. Wind in the stern of the new car drivers, well done to the transferors.
