The stop in Port Mahon of the units of the school ships group

03/09/14

The Navy School of Navy Sports (Stella Polare, Capricia, Corsaro II, Chaplin, Sagittario, Gemini and Dragone), followed by the Cassiopea patrol boat, stopped at the port of Mahon.

Training campaigns are training moments that are very important for the future of the official naval academy students. Not only marine training, but also training, educational visits, familiarization with other countries and cultures.

At the port of Mahon, the students visited the museum dedicated to the battleship Roma, the remains of which were found, 1200 meters deep, on 28 June 2012.

Almost a month after departure, the training ships group has covered more than 1000 miles, exceeding 300 engine hours and participated in two of the most important regattas in the Mediterranean (Illes Balears Classics and Copa del Rey de barcos de epoch); visits were carried out in each port and the local authorities were welcomed aboard the Cassiopea flagship which, through the activity of representation, made the navy known with the spirit and traditions it bears.

Mahon was the last Spanish stop in this training campaign. Next stop Toulon, next September 5th.
