The Second Naval Division in training in the Gulf of Taranto

The units of the second naval division, under the command of division admiral Andrea Petroni, conducted an intense training activity in the Gulf of Taranto, aimed at consolidating and increasing the operational capabilities of the department. The aircraft carrier participated Cavour, the destroyer Doria, the logistics support vessel Volcano, the frigate Carabiniere, the Multipurpose combat ship Morosini, which the peers joined Of the Black Bands (COMDINAV ONE), the amphibious landing ship San Giusto (COMDINAV TRE), and the Spanish unit Blaz by Lezo.

The training of the unit involved the performance of complex and varied activities, including hot shooting exercises with artillery systems, cinematic maneuvers in formation, lateral supplies (RAS - Replenishment at Sea), operations of boarding with marine brigade team Saint Mark, maritime strike and flight activities with the Navy's F-35B aircraft and advanced submarine search and counter-action activities.

The activities were enriched by the participation of the Italian Air Force's air assets, which ensured further realism and interoperability during the various phases of training.

A particularly notable moment was the visit on board of the commander in chief of the naval fleet, Admiral Aurelio De Carolis, who expressed his appreciation for the high level of preparation and integration demonstrated by the personnel of the participating units.

This type of exercise, characterized by high technical-tactical complexity and international interoperability, also represents an essential preparatory phase in view of the next important joint and international exercise "Mare Aperto 25", also confirming the role of the Navy as a fundamental element of national defense and protagonist of the international military scenario.
