This initiative is part of the advanced training program, which began on November 18, with the aim of preparing future commanders to manage the naval units that the Navy will entrust to them. During the visit, the lieutenants witnessed the docking maneuver of the motor tanker Red Garnet at the southern oil terminal of the ISAB refinery, whose facilities were declared to be of national strategic interest with the Prime Ministerial Decree of 3 February 2023.

The maneuver was coordinated by the pilots of the Augusta-Siracusa-Pozzallo Corporation and involved 3 tugboats from the Rimorchiatori Augusta company. The attending officers had the opportunity to understand the challenges related to the management of large tonnage ships, drawing from the valuable experience a wealth of knowledge to be retained for the rest of their careers.

The activity carried out, in addition to having aroused the interest of future commanders, demonstrates how solid and profitable the bond is between the Navy, the Institutions and the industrial realities of the Megara and Aretusean territory.
