After the stop at anchor in the waters facing the city of Procida, as part of the event "Procida Italian Capital of Culture 2022", Nave Palinuro which is conducting the 58th education campaign with 50 Morosini students on board, continued sailing to the port of Oran, in Algeria, where it moored on 25 June on the occasion of the opening ceremony of the XNUMXth edition of the Mediterranean Games .
On the same day the Minister of the Interior Luciana Lamorgese, and the Undersecretary to Sport, Valentina Vezzali, visited on board the training ship welcomed by the unit commander, frigate captain Francesco Rima, and by the commander of the 1st naval division, Rear Admiral Lorenzano Di Renzo.
"My compliments to the crew, who bring the traditions and culture of the sea to the world, making our country stronger and stronger", these are the words of the minister to the ship's crew Palinuro.
Subsequently, Minister Lamorgese and Undersecretary Vezzali went to the stadium of the Algerian city to participate in the opening ceremony of the Games, representing the Italian government.
The young students will return to the sea for a few more weeks. This period of navigation is fundamental for them as they will be able to immerse themselves in life on board by sailing in close contact with the crew who will provide them with a wide range of professional skills. They will be able to learn the seafaring art through a unique experience that will remain indelible in their cultural baggage. In addition, they will receive the so-called "baptism of the sea" which for each student represents the first period of training on board a naval unit. Also the training campaign of the training ship Palinuro testifies to the value that the Navy attributes to the training of its personnel, the protagonist of a process of excellence and unique experiences; it also represents a key element in the training of students during which the founding values are cultivated: ethics, fidelity, discipline and honor.
The students of the "MEITHRAS" course of the "Francesco Morosini" Military Naval School will disembark in Taranto on 11 July, while Nave Palinuro he will resume sailing with the marescialli pilots of Mariscuola Taranto until 16 August.
