After a short stop at anchor in the splendid waters of the Gulf of Palmas, Sant'Antioco, the sailing school ship Amerigo Vespucci of the Navy, engaged in the education campaign in favor of the official students of the first class of the Naval Academy, will head for Genoa where, on 3 August, it will participate in the inauguration ceremony of the new San Giorgio bridge in Genoa.

At the end of the ceremony, at sunset, the whole city will be able to appreciate the illuminated school ship of tricolor as a tribute to the city also through the musical notes of some songs by the great artist De Andrè, played on the historic piano of the ship.

The education campaign on board the Vespucci ship represents the baptism of the sea for every officer of the Navy, and young students at the end of a first and intense year of studies in the Naval Academy, are living their enthusiasm with interest. The Vespucci, which left Livorno on June 29, has already put students to the test in sailing on some of the most suggestive stretches of sea in the Mediterranean.

The 2020 education campaign takes place in an unusual way, taking into account the necessary safety requirements for ship's personnel in relation to the COVID 19 problem, therefore not providing for the opening to the public of the ship during stops in ports, as usual in past education companions.

This year's training activity is dedicated to all Italians who have experienced this moment of particular difficulty and, therefore, every possible opportunity of close passage will be seized to greet the communities along the coasts lapped by the vessel.
