The school ship Palinuro, arrived in the port of Valencia on Sunday 25 August, at the conclusion of the 60th Training Campaign for the students of the "Francesco Morosini" Naval Military School of Venice and the students of the 2nd class Normal Marshals Course of the Petty Officers School of Taranto.
"It is a source of pride to have you here with us today in Valencia. You bear witness to the fundamental role played by the Navy in an increasingly interconnected world, where security is a central theme in international relations" - these are the words of welcome in Spain of the Consul General of Italy in Barcelona, Dr. Emanuele Manzitti, to the crew and the commander of the ship Palinuro, frigate captain Samuele Mondino.
During the three days in the city, there were several opportunities to meet with local civil and military authorities. Upon arrival in port, the commander of the training ship was invited to the headquarters of the Naval Command of Valencia and received, in the Town Hall, by the Deputy Mayor Maria José Català Verdet.
Clearly visible from the seafront, day and night, with the lights of the Italian tricolour illuminating it, the schooner has attracted numerous visitors and tourists, who have come intrigued by its ancient beauty made of sails, wood and brass.
There were also moments of cultural exchange, such as the visits organized for the crew to places of historical and cultural interest.
The schooner's Spanish tour will continue with stops in Barcelona and Port Mahon (Spain), before returning to Italy.
