Since Wednesday 22 January, a representation of the 54th coastal minesweeper squadron has taken part in the NATO exercise Dynamic Move 2020-I at Ostende (Belgium).

The exercise, organized annually by MARCOM (Allied Maritime Command) at the NATO Center of Excellence for Mine Warfare, provides for an intense activity of planning and conducting naval mine clearance operations in an international scenario of possible crisis.

The commander of the 54th squadron, frigate captain Luca Traversaro, took over the command of a Task Group made up of about 60 people, including officers and non-commissioned officers from seven NATO countries as well as from Italy: Germany, United States, Canada, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland.

La Dynamic Move it is classified as CAX / CPX (Computer Assisted eXercise / Command Post eXercise) and represents one of the most important exercises in the field of mine warfare in the Atlantic Alliance landscape. Aimed at training the Command Staff, with the help of modern software, a complex and multi-threat scenario is recreated.

In addition to being a fundamental training moment, it is also preparatory to the future participation of the international staff on board the units of the NATO naval groups (SNMCMG1 and SNMCMG2).
