On 14 October in Augusta, at the Command of the Patrol Forces for Coastal Surveillance and Defense (COMFORPAT), the 285th session of the Naval Command School ended, an institution that since 1926 trains the future commanders of the naval units of the Navy Military.

The nine frequenting officers, coming from different operational realities of the Armed Force, successfully concluded the two phases of the command school, which saw them first engaged in the execution of mooring and unmooring maneuvers inside the Augusta harbor and, subsequently , in close maneuvers between naval units in the open sea.

During these phases, the future commanders tested their seafaring skills and the management of men and vehicles, dealing with different classes of naval units and with variable weather conditions.

Furthermore, the visitors were the first to try their hand at the new maneuvering simulator, recently installed at the Naval Command School in Augusta. This variety of scenarios allowed visitors to refine their personal sensitivity to maneuvering, in harmony with the motto of the Naval Command School “Learn the method, refine the technique”.

The closure of the Command School took place with the award ceremony presided over by the commander of the Patrol Forces, ship captain Pasquale Perrotta. They also attended the event, showing emotion and pride, even friends and family members of the visitors, who came to Augusta to honor the achievement of the greatest ambition of a Navy officer: to become the commander of a ship.
