The director of the Hydrographic Institute of Croatia visits the Hydrographic Institute of the Navy

On 8 and 9 July, the director of the Hydrographic Institute of Croatia, Dr. Vinka Kolic, accompanied by capt. Zelijko Bradaric, head of external relations of the aforementioned institute, visited Genoa at the Hydrographic Institute of the Navy (IIM).

The meeting with the director, Rear Admiral Luigi Sinapi, is part of those activities of mutual knowledge of the organizational, production and training processes linked to the hydro-oceanographic activities carried out by the respective institutes, both officially part of the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO).

Italy and Croatia have always had very close relations by virtue of their common interests in a border sea area overlooking their respective countries. Especially in the hydro-oceanographic field, the two institutes have persevered in collaboration precisely to facilitate the coordination of their respective activities in favor of the production of nautical documents relating to their area of ​​expertise.

The meeting was an opportunity for a fruitful discussion on the current problems and future challenges of the sector, related to the environment, the blue economy, staff training and the ever-increasing speed with which users request data, services and related updates of the nautical documents.

The coasts of the upper Adriatic in general are in fact of high interest for all civilian yachting, both pleasure and merchant, and require constant and continuous monitoring to guarantee the safety of navigation.

The meeting therefore gave the opportunity to deepen specialist issues of common interest, providing the basis for developing a wider cooperation aimed at providing an increasingly efficient and precise service to end users to guarantee our seas and the protection of life human in the sea.
