A department of the marine brigade Saint Mark carried out a short exercise simulating a covert insertion of specialist personnel, followed by an amphibious raid and the subsequent destruction of a missile battery located on the coast, on September 4 in San Vito, near the Navy officers' heliotherapy facility.
Amphibious operations require close collaboration and coordination between the assets and the Marine Brigade staff. Saint Mark, ships and naval aviation personnel.
The recon operators of the marine brigade were released from the SH-90 helicopter, piloted by personnel trained in this particular type of operations. Saint Mark.
Once the release point at sea was reached, the recon team of 4 operators continued the approach underwater in a covert manner using the propulsion of special silent and emission-free underwater towboats.
After reaching the beach and ensuring that the safety conditions were met for the insertion of the rest of the force, the team simulated transmitting data about the beach to the command of the embarked amphibious force using the radios provided.
Once given the green light, the attack teams aboard the amphibious assault boat secured the landing area and neutralized the coastal missile battery so as to prevent its further use by the simulated adversary.
The exercise conducted in the morning allowed us to witness one of the activities that the brigade carries out with its men and its vehicles, demonstrating how the landing forces represent an instrument capable of redeploying and operating in any location starting from the sea.
