NATO Dynamic Mariner 2020 exercise started

The Dynamic Mariner 2020 (DYMR20) is an annual exercise, organized and conducted under the responsibility of the Maritime Command NATO (MARCOM), with the aim of increasing operational readiness, combat capability and interoperability between the air and naval assets of the participating Allied Navies and the Organization's high operational readiness forces.

The Italian Navy participates in it with two officers in support of the staff of Corder of the Rapid Intervention Forces of the French Navy (COMFRMARFOR), the destroyer Luigi Durand de la Penne, offered to NATO as a VJTF (Very High Joint Task Force) national asset, the destroyer Andrea Doria, the submarine Giuliano Prini and a maritime patrol vessel P72.

The exercise, which is held in the Mediterranean Sea off the French coast, is structured in a phase of Combat Enhancement Training (CET), from 28 September to 4 October, and a Tactical phase (TACEX) from 5 to 9 October 2020, and involves surface units, submarines, maritime patrol aircraft, aircraft belonging to the Allied navies, assets with very high operational readiness NATO (VJTF), 1st NATO Permanent Naval Group (SNMG1), 2nd NATO Permanent Naval Group (SNMG2), as well as naval personnel of NATO countries (Belgium, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, Spain and the United States), which will work in support of COMFRMARFOR as a NATO asset in readiness for the year 2021.
