A GOI raider was decorated, last March 16, by the president of the republic with the silver medal for valor of the Navy, for the events that took place in Iraq in November 2019 and which caused the wounding of 5 operators of the Italian special forces .

The motivation for the decoration is as follows: "medical officer belonging to Task Force 44, operating in Iraq as part of the Inherent Resolve mission, during an activity carried out in support of local special forces, in an area characterized by the high presence of terrorist groups, suffered, with the own device, an attack with an IED that seriously injured fellow soldiers and Kurds.

Disdainful of danger and of his own safety, with courage, clarity and reactivity, he did his utmost to bring help and give first aid to the wounded, carrying out life-saving maneuvers and assisting them until help arrived for their extraction.

Splendid figure of medical officer who, with his actions, has brought prestige to the Navy and the country in an international context ". Kifri (Iraq), 10 November 2019.
