A two-day visit to the structures of the Navy in Puglia, the one carried out by the Undersecretary of Defense, Hon. Raffaele Volpi, who wanted to get to know the realities of the Armed Force in the cities of Brindisi and Taranto.

The activities began on 10 September inside the Swabian-Aragonese Castle with a historical re-enactment of the Great War, a historical exhibition inside the same ancient bastion and, subsequently, at the headquarters of the headquarters.

In the afternoon, before leaving this ancient city "gateway to the East", which became the Navy Base of the Royal Navy during the First World Conflict, the Hon. Volpi went to the Carlotto Barracks, where he noted the different specificities of the Marina San Marco Brigade.

In the afternoon it was the turn of the City of the Two Seas. In Taranto, the Undersecretary of Defense was able to get to know the realities of Mariscuola, Maricentadd (Aeronavale Training Center of the Navy of Taranto) and Maricenprog (Programming Center of the Navy), concluding the day at the Aragonese Castle to meet the city authorities.

The presence of the honorable Raffaele Volpi both in Brindisi and Taranto, was a tangible sign of the recognition by the Defense, of two important national realities, not only historical but also economic, which have positive social and collective repercussions for the whole Country.

The on. Volpi then stressed how much "Brindisi and Taranto are for our Marina a symbiotic phase of our history and of our actuality", or a unique that allows the Puglia Region to be a reference element"for its peculiarities but also thanks to the presence of the Marina and its economic activity".

The second day of visits to the city of Taranto began at Comflotsom (Submarine Flotilla Command), where it was possible not only to learn about the reality of the Submarine School and the simulators able to train the crews of the boats, but to embark on the submarine Pietro Venuti to see its peculiarities.

After a meeting with the Trade Union Representatives of the Arsenal, the Hon. Volpi wanted to express words of "deep and sincere gratitude" to the crews of the naval units, encountered in the assembly inside the Mar Grande Naval Station.

Subsequently, a brief visit aboard Ship Cavour marked the closing of the agenda in the Ionian city, before directing Grottaglie to Maristaer (Navy Aircraft Station).

Inside the Maristaer, it was possible to see the Harrier AV8 B in line flight and related equipment, the flight simulator for pilot training as well as the SH-90 helicopters of the 4th Helicopter Group.
