The raiders launch themselves from the EH-101 and SH-90A of the MM

For the personnel and vehicles of the navy the essential activities, to acquire or evolve their operational capabilities, are those of experimentation and training which, in these days, the men of the Operative Group Incursori (GOI) and of Agusta Westland have carried out, performing parachute launch tests from the EH-101 and SH-90 helicopters.

The activity was directed by the 6 ° aircraft department of the General Staff, and involved assets of the 1 ° and 5 ° Helicopter Group. A total of six 'sorties' (about 7 flight hours) and 35 launches were planned and carried out, with a free-fall technique from all the available exits (the two side ones in addition to the rear ramp), at variable heights between 5000 and 8000 feet.

The basis for these operations was the helicopter station of the Luni-Sarzana marina, where the Aeromarittimo Experimental Center of the Navy (CSA) collected the technical-experimental data necessary for the certification of the flight envelope of the 'machines' and the capacity launch from helicopters.

This new skill acquired by the EH-101 helicopter expands the projection capabilities of our special forces from the sea and the sea. All this to meet the future needs of men of the navy, who operate within the increasingly complex operating theaters.
