Wednesday 7 December, at Officers' School of La Maddalena, 140 volunteers on a fixed annual basis (VFP1) shouted in unison I swear in piazzale Avegno.

The clement weather has certainly favored the presence of family and friends who have come from all over Italy to the Non-Commissioned Officers School for the oath of their boys.

The harbor pilot students (49 girls and 91 boys) took the traditional oath of loyalty to the Republic in the presence of the military, civil and religious authorities, after attending a monthly theoretical and practical indoctrination course preparatory to specialist training in the harbor offices port to which they will be assigned.

So just an incipit for these future professionals of the sea in uniform: “welcome aboard Mariscuola La Maddalena, being defined as a sailor is the best compliment for those who go to sea”, the vessel captain Simone Battisti, commander of the school, told them. Naturally this implies sacrifice, seriousness and dedication and a constant renewal of the commitment undertaken with the formula of oath in front of the tricolor flag.

The Corsican "Neptune" takes leave of the island, not without a bit of melancholy, at the end of a period that has generated esprit de corps and also fraternal relationships that will consolidate over time.

From tomorrow the students will be part of other crews and will have to deal with the force of the elements at sea and subject them to their will; as did the god Neptune, who gives the course its name.

At the end of the parade, the brigade band notes Sassari they concluded the ceremony.
