Audacity, determination, courage, leadership, organizational skills, ability to lead men and means. These are some of the skills that every student of the 2 ^ class of the naval academy (Corso Titani) had to bring out to face and overcome the Force Protection and Art of Command course, which was organized at the Island's training center delle Pedagne (BR) from the “Caorle” schools battalion of the San Marco marine brigade.

The course was characterized by intense physical training. Every morning at the first light of the sun, the students performed a demanding gymnastics activity focused on endurance, physical strengthening and, above all, on "never give up" and "always" support the hard-working colleagues, to reach the goal united ... .the target.

During all the activities the students had to search for themselves the character qualities of a leader. Students have learned to overcome fear, to show courage, just as a commander must do. At the "Caserma Carlotto" the students faced the Air pack and the Ardimento Tower. The first was a test of courage, with a leap from a window with a fall on a special inflatable; the second allowed to simulate the release from a helicopter placed at a height of 12 meters, first lowering itself from the barbettone ("Fast Rope"), then into "Double Rope". In particular, the barbettone required a high dose of courage, but, above all, it made it clear to the young people that with a strong physical and technical preparation, together with the determination, it is possible to face all the tests with awareness of their own means and safety.

In addition to having courage, one must be trained. Daytime and nocturnal amphibious landings with AN 7, boats and GIS, the conquest of objectives protected with elements of land combat and topography, shooting training at the virtual polygon (FATS) and the real one allowed the next officers to receive a complete and accurate preparation, aimed at training the professional, as well as the master.

At sunset the student's day is not yet over; everyone finds themselves in the square of the island of Pedagne, to train themselves in self-defense and crowd control. We worked in groups, in unison, especially in training to control the crowd, because at times when the riot shields had to be piled up to create a formation to counter the troublemakers (to the scream of "tortoise!"), The teamwork was essential.

At the end of the course, the students went through the outbound gate enriched and aware that the pitfalls can always be won, throwing their hearts beyond the obstacle, working together, with determination, professionalism and courage, as required for each crew of the Navy .
