COVID19 emergency: the San Marco marine brigade in the territory control device

As part of the activities to combat COVID 19 commissioned by the Minister of Defense Lorenzo Guerini, the Navy, at the specific request of the Defense General Staff, has been employing the Riflemen of the Marine Brigade since yesterday Saint Mark also in the control of the territory.

The landing force of the Italian Navy, an elite department of the Italian armed forces, characterized by extreme tactical flexibility and strategic versatility, has the ability to perform various tasks including the use in research and control devices and the support of medical activities with installation of field hospitals. Units and departments of the Saint Mark they are now used on board naval units at sea, with safety and boarding duties, and in operating theaters abroad, such as in the Italian base of Djibouti.

In addition to guaranteeing continuity in the supervision and control of the Repatriation Residence Center (CPR) / Restinco Reception Center for Asylum Seekers (CARA), San Marco integrates the devices in place within the Operation "Safe Roads" in competition with the competent prefectures and law enforcement agencies, assisting the Carabinieri, Police and Guardia di Finanza in the control of the access gates to the province of Brindisi.

With this further commitment, the Navy increases its contribution to the country in the spirit of interforce and inter-agency in the context of measures to combat the spread of Coronavirus.
