The 62nd edition of the "Naval Academy Foreign Affairs Conference" (NAFAC), one of the most important international conferences which, for this year's edition, saw the participation again in the presence of 27 delegations. of NATO countries.

Representing Italy are two young officer students of the Naval Academy of Livorno: the aspiring midshipmen Umberto Fontana and Federico Colò, both of the course Esperia and third-class attendees at the Navy Training Institute.

During the event focused on "Partnership in the 21st Century: Aligning Values ​​and Interests in a Multipolar World", the participants had the opportunity to discuss in round tables together with other military, university students and experts in the field of foreign policy, negotiation, international security and international relations, on very topical issues: from climate change to current geopolitical scenarios, without neglecting the importance of cyber security.

The event was enriched by the presence of numerous leading figures in the international arena including Ambassador Douglas Lute, former permanent representative of the United States at the North Atlantic Council, the Hon. John Chris Inglis, named first national cyber director by President Biden in 2021.

The activities ended with a simulation of a Wargaming that as the aspiring ensign Fontana stated "It gave us the opportunity to test our diplomatic and decision-making skills, on the basis of what we learned in the previous days. It was certainly a very exciting experience that allowed us to add another training element, which will certainly be there. useful in view of the next employment aboard naval units and at the Departments of the Navy ".
