The Navy has adopted precautionary measures to limit the risk of contagion as a result of the identification of two soldiers who tested positive for COVID-19 and who 10 days ago had carried out activities at sea on the amphibious ships San Giusto and San George (photo).

The two soldiers, one of whom is hospitalized at the Perrino hospital in Brindisi, after showing symptoms related to the virus were subjected to the nose pharyngeal swab, which was then positive. They informed the respective commands of the infection.

The Navy immediately adopted restrictive measures to protect the health of staff, family members and citizens, reporting the crews of the two ships to the health authorities for the purpose of quarantine.

The ships will remain moored in the port of Brindisi supervised by the staff of the Naval Station who will maintain their state of efficiency.

The question we ask ourselves is the following: it was really advisable to carry out landing exercises with the Saint Mark, with ships equipped with precious capacity (operating rooms, isolation ...), in a moment of already known national health emergency?
