International cooperation in the field of In-Service Support of submarines

On June 05, 2024, the 28th Steering Committee meeting, conducted in the context of international cooperation between Italy, Germany and Portugal for the life support of U212A submarines, established with the signature by the respective Ministries of Defense of Memorandum of Understanding Common In Service Support (CISS MoU).

The meeting constitutes one of the main forums for consolidating and improving collaboration processes between the participating nations, encouraging mutual cooperation activities and the development of the themes of efficiency, sustainability, innovation and shared future programs, relating to both submarines and new technologies of underwater systems.

Italy was represented by a delegation composed of Rear Admiral Vito Lacerenza (head of the Submarine Department of the General Staff) and chairman of the event, by staffSubmarine program office, of the representation of the Italian Navy of Koblenz (Germany) and of the 3rd division of Navarm. Present, as observers, were the delegates of the Hellenic Navy, interested in being part of the CISS MoU by virtue of the excellent results achieved so far by the member nations in the field of joint technical support for submarines.
