On December 13, 2024, in the waters of the Gulf of Taranto, the first elementary internship for Nave concluded Giovanni Delle Bande Nere and the training recall of Nave San Giusto. For the Multipurpose Combat Ship, fourth in class and first in “full” configuration, and for the Landing Platform Dock (LPD) it was an unmissable opportunity.
The training activity began, for both units, with a phase of core training, with the aim of enabling the units to defend themselves from imminent threats as well as to deal with damaging events of any nature. The training subsequently continued with the phase combat training, oriented towards the acquisition of combat skills in different forms of combat, and focused, for Ship Of the Black Bands, in dealing with monothematic or multiple threats and, for Nave San Giusto, in a specific module of amphibious activity.
The two units also carried out a series of exercises that allowed the young ship's officers to try their hand at cinematic maneuvers useful for increasing their naval expertise and the operational teams to test themselves in tactical procedures and in the use of on-board sensors.
The elementary training (TIR.ELE.) and the training recalls (RA) conducted at the aeronaval training center of the MM (MARICENTADD) provide an intense training program of increasing difficulty and aim to achieve full operational readiness by the crew of the units through serial events that embrace all forms of combat and, transversally, damage control in progressively more complex scenarios.
In this perspective, therefore, the meeting at sea between Nave Of the Black Bands of the Ship Garibaldi, upon its return from its last voyage, which occurred in the final stages of training, represented a symbolic wish of "good winds" to the most modern multipurpose unit undergoing training.
