Last June 20th, on board the ship Morosini, the first historic session of the Maneuver Training Recall (RAMA) in favor of the frigate captains designated to command. Under the supervision and coordination of the second naval division, ten frigate captains, designated to the naval command, took turns in conducting actual and simulated mooring maneuvers of the different types in use such as the side-by-side, flagship (so-called to the Mediterranean), at the buoy and at anchor. The activity, started this year and carried out from 18 to 20 June, is characterized by its distinctly practical connotation, with the aim of recalling and consolidating the maneuvering concepts acquired in previous command and on-board experiences, stimulating the approach maneuver with larger units of different types, including Ships Morosini which, for about two years in the operational line of the naval team - represents a particularly significant example of technological innovation.
The session was also accompanied by the sharing of experiences with the owners of the units on site, from briefing e debriefing of maneuver, from the encounter with the reality of the tugboats in the Taranto headquarters and from the comparison with the commander of the second naval division, division admiral Giacinto Sciandra, whose presence on board the ship Morosini during the training he testified to the importance and attention paid to the event.
The training moment was also enriched by the traditional and evocative passage of the Ship Morosini of the navigable canal of Taranto - iconic element of the city Taranto that unites the city of the two seas. Crossing the swing bridge represented a pleasant combination of tradition and training in perfect Navy style. This underlines the Armed Force's commitment to providing future commanders with the necessary elements for their work, certain that with the skills acquired and the experience gained they will be able to measure themselves and deal with the next professional challenges. Wind in the sails of the next commanders, always!
