In Mar Grande Naval Station of Taranto and on board the modern logistics unit Volcano, the handover ceremony was held between Rear Admiral Giovanni Cazzato and Division Admiral Andrea Petroni, the new commander of the Navy's second naval division.
The event, attended by numerous local civil, religious and military authorities, was both an opportunity to celebrate the valuable contribution of the Second Naval Division and its dependent naval units in the projection of the naval fleet, and a moment to underline the fundamental role of Taranto as a strategic center for Navy operations.
The ceremony, a symbol of continuity and renewed commitment, was presided over by the commander in chief of the naval fleet, Admiral Aurelio De Carolis.
Rear Admiral Giovanni Cazzato passed the baton after an intense period, marked by significant activities that contributed to maintaining high standards of efficiency and operational readiness of the assigned maritime forces.
Division Admiral Andrea Petroni expressed his commitment to continue strengthening the division's operational and support capabilities, underlining how 2025 represents a crucial phase for the Navy, also in light of the geopolitical changes that require increasingly rapid and effective responses.
With the support of naval station of Taranto and of the modern units of the Navy, the second division has the task of maintaining high readiness and intervention capacity, contributing to consolidating Italy's role as a major maritime power in the regional and international panorama, in a historical context in which naval forces are called upon to respond to new emerging challenges.
